Wellington's Maps

Mapping Wellington

In order to get some sense of how music-making is conceived of spatially, in non-narrative form, the musicians were asked to draw a map of ‘their personal Wellington’ or ‘their personal Copenhagen’. The instructions were kept as broad as possible in order to give the respondents the utmost freedom of choice and expression. This creative freedom on the side of the music-makers allowed me to collect a variety of rhythmical patterns and perspectives, which provided insight into the musicians’ unique sociospatial relation to music-making in Wellington and Copenhagen.
