Nikita the Spooky and a Circus of Men

I saw Nikita and the Spooky for their CD release show in the Newtown community centre.  The venue was perfect for the dreamy, mystical sounds creating a warm, cosy atmosphere. The five-man band is made up of Nikita on the guitar and vocals, Daniel on double bass, Cory on percussion and vocal harmonies, Tristan on violin/viola and also vocal harmonies, and Charley on the cello. Their music is described as mystical and mesmerising, combining elements  from folk, blues, jazz and soul.

The concert was quite different to what I had experienced previously. There was a door charge of 15 bucks but you could bring your own alcohol and buy some cheap, tasty curry. People of all ages were sitting on chairs or the floor, enjoying some food and drinks while consciously listening to the Spooky’s sounds.
